The job shadow program at St.Vincent Hospitals and Health Services provides experiential learning opportunities designed to help individuals learn about health career options and the skills that different occupations require. The program offers a four-hour, once-a-month education and shadowing/observation experience to people interested in learning about a specific area in health care.
The goals of the job shadow program at St.Vincent Hospitals and Health Services are to assist students in accomplishing the following:
- Observe the daily routines of healthcare workers
- Begin to identify career interests in health care
- Gain awareness of the academic, technical and personal skills required in nursing
- Gain an understanding that different health careers have cultures and work environments that can be unique to a particular profession
To arrange a job shadow experience, please contact the St.Vincent Health Area Health Education Center (AHEC) at 317.583.3512. The AHEC will connect you to the department(s) you wish to shadow. You must complete a job shadow application.
