Accelerated Nursing Students practicing with simulation manikin

This is a guest blog post written by Leslie Wheeler, a Marian University student in the accelerated nursing program in Indianapolis.

Whew! I am so excited to announce that my cohort is halfway to our goal of finishing nursing school!

What a whirlwind ride this has been so far. I was fortunate and successfully completed Medical-Surgical Nursing. Now, it's on to Maternity and Mental Health. We barely have time to take a breath in this program, but I wouldn't trade it for the world. It feels as though it was January and snow was blowing just a few days ago. Time sure flies when you're having fun!

This program isn't for everyone but for me, it works out perfectly. If you are the type to want to stay busy, then this is the place for you. I study early in the mornings when I am at my best and then, it's off to my new job as a student nurse, clinical rotations or testing at the Marian University accelerated nursing site. During evenings, I try and recoup, rest, spend time with my family or, of course, study! Everything seems to be happening so fast! I was honored to be able to help this cohort's graduates at their pinning ceremony. Just think, it was less than a year ago when they were right here where I am now!

Marian University for St.Vincent Health has helped me so much. They put me on track to finding a great part-time patient care job where I'm getting so much experience. The staff is always there for a kind word. I've made some life-long friends. Who could ask for anything more? I am truly blessed.
