Why I Chose Nursing
There are a lot of reasons why ABSN students choose to go back to school to become nurses. With Marian University’s accelerated BSN program in Nashville, these individuals can become a registered nursing in just 16 months, instead of putting in another four years of colleges.
Meet Stephen. While in college working towards his first bachelor’s degree, he had a choice between two different career paths: nursing and theater. Watch the video below to hear his story.
Why did Stephen Choose to Become a Nurse?
Stephen says, “I’d always loved the idea of being a nurse. When I was first going to school I struggled with ‘did I want to go into that healthcare profession where you have a specific range of what you can do or did I want to go into theater and the arts and try to take that path and see where it would go.’ And I came to the conclusion that I would start off with theater and if it wasn’t something that was going to be viable for me I would be young enough to be able to change over.”
“I’ve always felt this desire to help people or reach out when someone was hurting or just needed a helping hand. Nursing does provide that. You are their best friend while they’re in the hospital. You are taking care of them. You’re seeing them at their worst and you have to love those people to help them get better. And I don’t think I could have found a better fit for my life after starting this program.”
