This past spring, all of us at the Marian University accelerated nursing program in Indianapolis were proud when ABSN student Shelly Brosseau was honored at the Indianapolis Star's eleventh annual Salute to Nurses ceremony.
Nursing schools across Indiana nominate one student to represent their college or university. Because we have hundreds of deserving individuals at Marian University, we chose to create an essay contest.
An internal committee was formed to review the essays, and Shelly was chosen as our representative. From there, the Indiana State Board of Nursing selected Shelly from all the nominees throughout the state. Her essay about what inspired her to become a nurse won her a $3,500 scholarship.

Become the Marian University ABSN Program Nominee for 2014
Each Indiana nursing program is allowed just one nominee in the contest. A committee of Marian University faculty and staff will select which essay will be submitted on behalf of our nursing program. The State Board of Nursing selects the final winner.
