So often, students come to me when they are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out and frustrated. As their academic advisor, I can offer a shoulder to lean on, study tips and other ways to help keep students on track. However, I think the most beneficial guidance comes from fellow students in the program. It helps students who are further along to see how far they've come as they inspire others through sharing their success stories as they've progressed through the program.
Since it's so important for students to take time out of each day to catch a break and make sure they are taking care of themselves, we created "Cohorts in Cahoots" - a monthly social gathering for all current nursing students in the Marian University for St.Vincent Health program. It's a very laid-back, informal event where students can stop in, enjoy some food, ask for and share tips, study tricks, advice, and simply talk about their experiences within the program.
Our most recent "Cohorts in Cahoots" was earlier this month on February 6, and those who attended really enjoyed it. Here are a few images from the event:
Our next "Cohorts in Cahoots" is on Tuesday, April 9, at 2:30 pm at the ABSN site. We hope you'll join us!
