The Crossroads of America, Indianapolis is smack dab in the center of the state - just three hours from Chicago to the North, and two hours from Louisville to the South. North, south, east or west, there are great places to live, work and most importantly, eat! Let me take you on a short tour.
Let's start on the west side. Near the home where I was born is a great little diner, Mann's Grill. Lots of comfort food here in the neighborhood known as WI (West Indianapolis). Just a short hop on the easily accessible interstate and we're down to the southwest suburbs, and then just a little farther to the place where I got my first job - Gray Brothers Cafeteria. Man, this is good food. Roast beef, fried chicken, sometimes even fried oysters. Mmm. If you live near here, you've just got to have it.
Back on the east-west interstate and we slide into downtown, where everything is centrally located. It's so easy to head into town and have a great steak at Mo's, Morton's or (my favorite) St. Elmo. Don't forget the shrimp cocktail at St.Elmo; it's world famous! You can catch a ball game downtown, see a great museum (or two) and then it's a quick jaunt up to the north side, where there are hundreds of great restaurants. Stop in downtown Carmel and visit Shapiro's Deli, where sandwiches are huge and dessert should be the main course.
Well, I know I missed a lot, but I've made myself hungry! So, I'm on my way to my favorite place for breakfast on the east side, Waffle House! Good food, good fun, good friends, all here in the heart of the Midwest, Indianapolis.
With lots to eat, do, and learn in Indianapolis, who wouldn't want to go to school here?
