Marian University’s accelerated nursing program in Indianapolis welcomed another incoming class of nursing students on January 13, 2014. Due to the accelerated nature of the program, these students will graduate in just 16 months and be prepared to sit the for NCLEX-RN to become licensed registered nurses.
It's no surprise that this class includes diverse backgrounds, as there is no average student in our second degree program. Our new class includes students who relocated from as far west as Oregon and as far northeast as Vermont. For one, the Polar Vortex 2014 winter storm was his first exposure to below zero temps and double-digit inches of snow. Welcome to Indiana!
This new cohort is made up of recent grads and experienced professionals. 17% of our new students graduated with their first degree within the past year, while 26% have been out of school for 10 or more years. The majority of our students prefer to stay close to home, as 71% earned their first degree at an Indiana school. With degrees ranging from animal science to interior design to music education to Spanish, our students are sure to bring a lot of great experience and knowledge to the accelerated nursing program. We wish them the best of luck as they begin their 16 month journey.
