Since the accelerated nursing program in Indianapolis has an online component, the majority of “book” learning will occur on your time at home on your computer. Of course, you will have face-to-face interactions with clinical faculty who will guide you in the lab and at the hospital where you will gain invaluable experience and the opportunity to put what you’ve learned to practice. However, how successful you are and can be in this program is dependent on you. You’ll get out of it what you put into it.

That being said, we want to do everything we can to help you succeed. Along with the various tips offered right here on this blog and  an academic advisor on site to serve you, there is another key tool to our students’ success both in class and on the NCLEX: Kaplan Test Prep. The Marian University for St.Vincent Health program utilizes the Nursing Kaplan Test Prep services from the first day a student starts in the program through post-graduation.

Students pay a Kaplan fee as part of their tuition, and this grants them access to their personal Kaplan website that they can use any time from any computer. On the first day of classes for a first semester student, a representative from Kaplan comes to the ABSN site to present a Kaplan orientation which walks everyone through how to get the most out of the Kaplan services. Each semester after that, students use Kaplan  to create practice tests and find supplemental materials for each course, as well as earn points towards their course grades with integrated  tests which are proctored and benchmarked against a national standard.

All of these easy-to-use resources are offered to enhance the learning process and to prepare students for the NCLEX. The week after graduation, those students who just graduated return to participate in a 4-day review course. This course teaches strategies specific to analyzing and answering questions on the NCLEX and has proven to be a successful tool in helping students pass.
